We are excited to announce two new hires who have joined New Profit to help enhance our public outreach and engagement efforts:

• Derrek Shulman (photo, left) has been hired as Partner, Senior Philanthropic Advisor and Director of Development Communications. In this role, Derrek will play a key role in efforts to both broaden awareness of New Profit and raise funds to increase the organization’s impact. He joins New Profit from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a civil rights organization for which he served as Regional Director for New England. Prior to working at ADL, he was the New England Political Director of AIPAC, a national pro-Israel lobby. He also he also held various positions in the administrations of Massachusetts Governors Weld, Cellucci, Swift, and Romney, and he ultimately rose to the position of Chief of Staff at the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. • Sam Hiersteiner (photo, right) has been hired as Communications Director. Sam will join New Profit’s management team and oversee all aspects of the organization’s public outreach efforts. Prior to joining New Profit, he spent eight years at the Glover Park Group, a strategic communications firm in Washington, D.C. While at the firm, he provided high-level counsel to the United Nations Foundation, the LIVESTRONG Foundation, Participant Media, ONE, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and AARP, among other leading nonprofits and companies. Of the new hires, New Profit Managing Director Tripp Jones said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Derrek and Sam to our team at New Profit. With their support, we plan to strengthen our efforts to help emerging social enterprises grow in reach and voice, while also doing more to drive discussion about how to achieve greater impact on challenging social issues like education reform, public health, college access and supporting veterans.”
